I served under fire, and I saw firsthand the strength and resilience of the West Virginia spirit. But that grit shouldn’t be met with empty promises. As an economist, I know our biggest enemy isn’t an external one, it’s a lack of opportunity right here at home. My plan cuts through the red tape and stifling regulations that choke our businesses and families. We’ll streamline government and get it out of the way, empowering West Virginians to build their own future. Whether it’s unleashing our energy potential, supporting our working families with smart tax cuts, or investing in education and infrastructure that opens doors, we’ll fight for every good-paying job and a second chance. Specific Policies and Initiatives
Going after the drug dealers
To me, drug dealers are at the epicenter of our current drug problem, and I want to take this problem out at the root. These dealers are the ones putting the needles into the arms of our loved ones and poisoning our communities. I personally have had enough of it.

If elected, I will be tough on repeat drug dealers. I support raising penalties for repeat drug dealers to include extending incarceration. I would also consider reclassifying drug dealing as a violent crime.

Instate University Decline
There has been a serious decline recently in enrollment at Universities throughout the state of West Virginia. This decline is further exacerbated by the decline in population throughout the majority of the state.

I will be championing a bill that allows instate tuition, for any state university, to be granted to all veterans, regardless of status. Currently, there is a federal bill but it requires the veteran to use their GI bill. Many veterans either do not have access to it anymore because they used it all or signed it over to their dependents.

Predatory Claim Sharks
There are many horror stories from veterans about predatory claim sharks. These range from being charged hundreds of thousands of dollars for assistance in filling their claims, to companies not assisting the veteran but taking money when the veteran receives a raise in disability, despite not assisting at all.

I have already submitted a bill for drafting in the legislature that helps fight against predatory claims for veterans. I will continue to champion this bill in the upcoming legislative session until we can get the protection our veterans deserve.

Occupational Licensing

As an economist teaching at WVU, I’m focused on promoting fiscal responsibility and driving real economic growth in West Virginia. That includes ending unnecessary licensing requirements that hold back small businesses and entrepreneurs. I also believe we’ve spent too long neglecting the infrastructure that keeps our communities strong. If we fail to address it, we risk driving businesses and opportunities out of our state — and that’s something we simply can’t afford to ignore.

General Policies and Beliefs
Pro 2nd Amendment
I exercise my right to keep and bear arms on a regular basis. My stance on the Second Amendment is rooted in a steadfast commitment to upholding the constitutional rights of American citizens. I firmly believe in the fundamental right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms as a means of self-defense and a safeguard against tyranny. The Second Amendment is a cornerstone of our individual freedoms and a crucial element of our nation’s history. I advocate for responsible gun ownership, recognizing that a well-armed citizenry is essential for maintaining a free and secure society. While prioritizing the safety of our communities, I oppose unnecessary regulations that infringe upon the rights of responsible gun owners. It is imperative that we strike a balance, promoting common-sense measures to prevent crime without compromising the rights of law-abiding citizens to exercise their Second Amendment rights responsibly.

If elected, I will adamantly oppose any bills that restrict our right to bear arms.

Pro-Life
I believe that all life is sacred. My stance on the pro-life issue is rooted in a deep respect for the sanctity of human life. I believe in advocating for policies that protect the unborn and support the rights of the most vulnerable members of our society. I stand firm in the conviction that every life, from conception to natural end, deserves protection and the opportunity to flourish. While recognizing the complexities of this deeply personal and sensitive issue, I believe it is our moral duty to defend and promote the right to life.

If elected, I will support measures that prioritize alternatives to abortion, such as access to comprehensive healthcare, education, and resources for expectant mothers. Through compassionate and thoughtful policies, I aim to create a society where every individual has the chance to fulfill their potential and contribute to the fabric of our nation.

Lower taxes
I want to continue the current state trend of lowering taxes as well as finding better, more efficient ways to operate the state government. My stance on lower taxes is grounded in the fundamental belief that reducing the tax burden on individuals and businesses stimulates economic growth and empowers citizens to keep more of their hard-earned money. Lower taxes not only provide relief to working families, allowing them to allocate resources according to their priorities, but they also incentivize innovation and entrepreneurial endeavors. By promoting a tax environment that encourages economic activity, we can spur job creation, enhance global competitiveness, and fuel the engine of the American economy. Additionally, I believe that responsible fiscal policies, coupled with lower taxes, can lead to a more efficient and effective government that operates within its means, ensuring a healthier and more prosperous future for all citizens.

If elected, I will advocate for policies that prioritize tax cuts, fostering a climate where businesses can invest, expand, and create jobs.

Smaller Government
My stance on smaller government reflects a commitment to the principles of limited government, individual liberty, and fiscal responsibility. I believe in reducing the size and scope of government intervention in citizens’ lives, allowing individuals and businesses to thrive with greater autonomy. This philosophy asserts that empowering individuals, local communities, and the private sector fosters innovation, economic growth, and personal responsibility. By streamlining government functions, eliminating unnecessary regulations, and promoting free-market principles, Republicans aim to create an environment where citizens have more control over their lives, and the government operates efficiently without unnecessary bureaucracy.

My goal, if elected, is to strike a balance that ensures essential services are provided while respecting the autonomy and decision-making abilities of individuals and businesses.

Free Market Capitalism
My stance on free market capitalism is rooted in the belief that it serves as the bedrock for economic growth, innovation, and individual prosperity. I firmly support the principles of a free market, recognizing it as a dynamic force that fosters competition, spurs innovation, and drives efficiency. In a free market system, businesses have the freedom to compete and succeed based on merit and consumer demand, leading to greater opportunities for entrepreneurship and job creation. I believe that limited government intervention, coupled with a commitment to reducing regulatory burdens, allows businesses to flourish, empowering individuals to pursue their economic goals and dreams.

If elected, I will promote a free market system that not only encourages efficiency but also ensures that the fruits of economic success are shared, lifting communities and fostering a stronger, more resilient society. My dedication to free market capitalism aligns with the Republican values of individual empowerment, economic liberty, and the pursuit of the American Dream.
